AMK Sivan temple, Mattayanthidal
Early 1900 our fore fathers decided to build a stone temple for Sivan in their agricultural village in Mattayanthidal, Thanjore Dist. The Stone Idols of Sivan and other deities were obtained when the land were being tilled for agriculture!
The Lord Siva is worshipped as Kailasanathar and the goddess as Nithyakalyani (similar to the one of the Nine temples in Chettinadd at Ilayathakudi).
The temple was built and the first Kumbabishekam was performed on 07-07-1930. Following which two more kumbabishekam were performed on 07-02-1977 & 21-01-1999 by our parents and later by us respectively.
Poojas are performed three times a day. The temple is staffed with Priest, Melam, Nadaswaram, support staffs. All Sivan temple festivals are celebrated. Pradosams are celebrated with lots of devotee attendances.Yearly once during the month of April/May the Deities are taken out in procession in Vahanams. The temple is in our private property and managed and funded by our own funds.
